Gil Scott-Heron

Saw Gil Scott-Heron at Summerstage last Sunday. He was cool. I could just listen to him talk all day. He sang two of my favorite songs. Then common came on and did a couple songs. Common was just medicore, kept repeating the title of the song...we get it dude. Still cool that he did a song that sampled Gil.

We Almost Lost Detroit - check out from 1:58-2:10 for the sample.

Gil's first song was pieces of a man. Better song than We Almost Lost Detroit. Better use sample by KMD too.

Check out 2:16 - 2:30

God Doom, sorry Zev Love X, kills it. So good.

As is the Non-Remix

Gil's also got a killer cut off his new release with Nas. Called "New York is Killing Me"

Armagideon Time

Willie Williams - Armagideon Time. Hot Damn this song is good. The offbeat organ just sets up a groove that is so tightly interwoven with that bassline.

And I forgot but it was in ghost dog too

Oh and the Clash covered it too

Pure Imagination

The song 'pure imagination' was included in a commercial recently and it reminded me that the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is awesome.
